Hudson River Plane crash
The plane crash in the Hudson River was one of the most shocking events that I have heard in 8 years. It was flight 1549 “the miracle crash” that all of the passengers survived. That was a super miracle that they all survived. The reason that it crashed is because it flew into a flock of geese and one of the birds got caught in the engine and that engine caught on fire. That crash dumped 155 passengers in to the chilly Hudson River, 15 people were being treated at hospitals and triage centers. It was five minutes after they took off, when they took off one of the passenger’s smelled smoke and knew something was wrong. This is going to be an important thing in aviation because the pilot saved all those passengers and made all those split second decisions, which saved all those passengers. The pilot should be recognized for his bravery and commitment. He used to be an Air force pilot and the landing that he did on the water was one of the hardest landing that he could have done. This was the biggest event since the World Trade Center incident. The kind of air plane was an Airbus A320. The entire crew was rewarded the masters medal of the guild. The award citation read this emergency ditching and evacuation, with the loss of no lives, is a heroic and unique aviation achievement.
The specs on the plane are

The airport they left was LaGuardia. They were going to try to land at Teterboro airport that was in New Jersey when Sullenberger contacted the air traffic controller and said there is no way that we can make it to the airport. The engines lost almost all the thrust and the captain tried to restart the engines. He chose the ditching area because there were three boat terminals and the passengers had a better chance of survival. The flight attendents began evacuation of the 150 passengers on to the wings and onto slides, one of the slides did not deploy right away. The slowly sinking airliner was drifting down stream, one of the doors was opened by a panicked passenger and caused the plane to fill up with water. Quicker, one of the flight attendants tried to seal up the door but was unsuccessful. They found out later that the impact of the water ripped a hole in the underside of the airplane and twisted the fuselage causing cargo doors to open and causing the plane to fill up water from the rear. The last person to come out of the plane was the captain.
I think that this will have a big impact on the future because it will let the pilots of the future know how to land on water and let them know who saved all those passengers. It will let them know how to make planes safer and what to put in the planes. They plane are a lot safer than they were 60 years ago they did not have as much fancy safety equipment like they do today. Some of the safety equipment they have today is really advanced. They should make the plans float so the passengers have a better chance to survive. It is hard to survive a plane crash. It’s like a 50% chance to survive a plane crash.
We remember all those who died in the terrorist attacks. And those who have served in all the past and in the present and in the future. The brave souls who have died for our country and what they died for. People say they died for our freedom but with the war we are in now, I think that we are killing for oil and we don’t need foreign oil. We need to get out of Iraq and Afghanistan before we lose any more of our troops and any civilians over there in Iraq.
